About Us

The North Central Illinois Perinatal Network is recognized by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) as one of Illinois’ 10 Administrative Perinatal Centers (APCs). Since the inception of Illinois’ perinatal regionalization system in 1976, this network of APCs has played a vital role in improving maternal and newborn care across the state. Based at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois, the North Central Illinois Perinatal Network supports 28 hospitals across 25 counties in Central Illinois.

OSF Saint Francis Medical Center serves as the network's Level III institution, providing specialized care from highly trained maternal-fetal medicine and neonatal subspecialist physicians. OSF Saint Francis and the Children's Hospital of Illinois are proud to provide advanced support for high-risk pregnancies and newborns with complex care needs. Additionally, our network aims to provide targeted education designed to enhance outcomes for mothers and infants across Central Illinois.

The North Central Illinois Perinatal Network offers a range of services to hospitals in the region, including:

  • Administration and implementation of the IDPH Regionalized Perinatal Health Care Program

  • 24/7 transport services for high-risk obstetric and neonatal patients

  • 24/7 consultation services for obstetric and neonatal care

  • Professional education and outreach for physicians, nurses, and pre-hospital providers

  • Guidance and support for quality improvement initiatives
